3. The connection that i have found between this story and Bigger from Native Son is that both the black man kidnapped the white girl. The whereabouts of the white girl are unknown  to the public and most importantly to the family. They both had possession of the white girl's car. Even though the black man from the story was calling to threaten the white chick, Bigger was sending a letter to the family, both letting them know that something was wrong. It seems that they had both planned the outcome of the kidnapping. Eventually, at the end, it seems that they had discovered who the person pulling the strings was. They were both suspects of the matter and they were both black.

 

Academic Progress Reflection

I think that academically i have been doing a bit better than what i have been so far this year because i am making sure that i do all of my homework and turn it in. My study habit has changed in the way that i am doing all of my homework as soon as i get to  my house. It has not changed in the sense that I still do not study for any upcoming tests.

Ending of book 2 flight (Native Son)

1. My reaction was thinking that Bigger finally got what he deserved. It was a feeling of excitement and of suspence and a feeling of knowing what was going to happen at the same time.
2. "He would shoot when they were closer and he would save one bullet for himself. They would not take him alive." (250). This quote is poignant to my opinion because Bigger had finally lost all fear that he once had even though he knew that the end of him was near. He was facing the whole world and yet he felt a kind of pride in what he was doing. He felt killing as many as he could and then killing himself as a hero thing, even though in reality it was the opposite.
3. The titles of the three books are "Fear, Flight, and Fate." I think they are titled this way because each title represents the main feeling of the book.

At War: Bigger's Id, Ego, and Superego Compete

1. "He had his hand on the doorknob, waiting, his muscles taut. He had to be careful with his answers now. And yet he knew he had a certain protection; he knew that a certain element of shame would keep Mrs. Dalton from asking him too much and letting him know that she was worried. He was a boy and she was an old woman. He was the hired and she was the hirer. And there was a certain distance to be kept between them" (p. 121).
2. "But of the whole business there was one angle that bothered him; he should have gotten more money out of it; he should have planned it. He had acted too hastily and accidentally. Next time things would be much different; he would plan and arrange so that he would have money enough to keep him a long time" (p. 123).

I think he was using the ego because he had a grasp of reality and he knew what he was thinking and even though he was kind of uncomfortable, he knew what to say so that he wouldn't get too involved with the whole Marry situation. Also, when he was alone, he was thinking of doing it again and he sees it as something that isn't regretable.

Native Son murder reflection

 My reaction to Bigger killing Marry was surprising because first of all he never even meant to kill her he only meant to silence her so he would not get caught  when Mrs. Dalton was asking for Marry. Then again knowing him by the previous situations he has had, it was kind of expected that he would do something about the dead body. He was in a state of shock, he was terrified and he was paranoid. He was not trying to loose his job and more importantly, he was not trying to get caught. The way he was thinking was kind of creepy though because he was basically doing things that he did not need to do, like decapitating her head. that was kind of sick because even though he was scared, he could have just dumped the body in the water
